Jakari Smith (Bradley Tech High School) and Shannon Maher (Reagan High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 14-20.

Senior Jakari Smith carried Bradley Tech to their first two wins of the season with a dominant three-game stretch. The senior averaged 27 points and 16 rebounds, demonstrating his versatility on both sides of the ball. Smith’s best performance came against West Bend East on Dec. 19, when he posted 28 points and 23 rebounds in a 56-42 victory. Two days later against Prosser, he shot 12 for 15 from the field, finishing the game with 26 points and 13 rebounds in a 64-50 win.

Meanwhile, Reagan’s Shannon Maher put up some strong numbers over her two most recent games, averaging 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4.5 assists. The senior’s highlights came against Rufus King on Dec. 17, where she put up 25 points — including six three-point makes on 50 percent shooting — and recorded 10 rebounds. Maher made major contributions again in Reagan’s matchup against MSL, adding 17 points and five assists in the Huskies’ 60-37 win.
